Poutine not Poutang!

Poutine

Poutine

Recently while traveling SE Asia I met many Canadians, all top people!  One constant travel companion, ‘Dana Teacher’ told me that what all Canadians love is hot POUTINE!  When she told me this I was shocked.  Why, Brits love POUTANG, too!!  ALRIIIIIIGHT!!  Dana Teacher isn’t a crude girl though, so why was she telling me to try out the women?!  Obviously there was a misunderstanding, poutine is nothing to do with ‘poutang’,  Dana explained that poutine was a unique Canadian cuisine speciality of chips (fries) gravy and cheese curd.  Sounds pretty basic but it is a dish many Canadians are proud of; chips, gravy and cheese… exquisite!  Both moist and tangy.  So when I arrived in Canada i went out to find myself some fresh, hot poutine!  It wasn’t hard to find, a short walk to Chill Winston in Gastown, soon enough I was digging into the famous Canadian dish.  Not to mock the simple ingredients, the poutine was pretty good!  A brilliant combo and can be compared to the popular English dish of ‘Cheesy chips’ but without the gravy.  I’m sure poutine will be a great after drinking fix for the walks home after the bar, thanks Dana teacher.
