Having conquered Grouse mountain is was time to experience some more of North Vancouver. Taking a swift sea boat to the other side and a short bus ride later we arrived at Capilano – The Suspension Bridge. Apparently Vancouver’s most popular tourist attraction, so no surprises it costs a fortune! Adult: $28.95 – but for BC residents (us) $20.10, for the whole year – which is actually really good.
If afraid of heights it’s not for you – the bridge is 136 metres long and 70 metres above the Capilano river. Originally built in 1889 by George Grant Mackay, a Scottish civil engineer (who was also behind the Stanley Park project). Along with the bridge there are lots of tree top bridges, forest trails and a pond – with information posts dotted around. Makes for a good day out. On entry I jokingly asked if anyone had fallen off – I was told no but having just looked on Wiki I found some lady once dropped an 18 month old baby off, surprisingly it survived with no serious injuries?!
